Trials start on collection of household flexible plastic waste

The BBC announced yesterday that over 4000 households in Reading are taking part in a plastic wrapper recycling trial.

The trials are being run via the FPF FlexCollect Project, which is trialing a series of innovative flexible plastic household collection and recycling pilots between 2022 and 2025.  The trials will involve nine local authorities over the three years.

The data and evidence collected will help provide vital understanding into how best to incorporate flexibles into existing waste collections.

The project is co-funded by Defra, FPF, UKRI and Zero Waste Scotland.  It is fully aligned with the WRAP led UK Plastics Pact aimed at creating a circular economy for flexible plastic packaging.
