Flexible packaging printer Roberts Mart is expanding
its work in the food and drinks sector after getting
crucial accreditation for its new ten-colour flexo
press.
The company, which specialises in bag making, ordered
the Fischer & Krecke 26S in July and recently
completed the installation in a purpose-built factory
in Leeds. The press was £2m of an £8m
investment, which included a range of ancillary
equipment, such as automatic wash up, video web
inspection and resister and quality controls.
The company recently received British Retail Consortium
accreditation. Group operations manager Simon Plomer-Roberts
said: “The printing press is quite revolutionary
in terms of its capability and size. I intend to
use this new print technology to target large corporations
in the food and drink sector, as well as supplying
existing customers with a higher quality service.”
Roberts Mart believes the F&K press is the longest
flexo press installed in the UK at 27m. It can print
in widths up to 1,300mm and reels up to 1,000mm
diameter using all types of material from 10-120
micron films, foils and papers.
The press can print ten colours on one side or eight
plus two on the reverse, of the downstream units
can be used for coating or varnishing.
