Roberts Mart, the Leeds packaging printer, is
to buy a "huge" new flexo press after
it moves to a new plant in June 2004.
Roberts Mart which celebrated its 150th birthday
last year, had been on its current site at Bank
Mills for 120 years.
It is moving down the road to a single storey
building on the Thornes Farm Business Park, off
Pontefract Lane, after which its current 1820's
mill building will be converted into 200 apartments.
A subsidiary, Romar Packaging could move into
the Thornes Farm site later.
Roberts Mart prints reel paper and polyethylene
packaging for food. Details of its new press are
being kept under wraps for now.
The catalyst was the significant rise in the value
of Bank Mills because people want to live on or
near to the watersides,"says MD John Roberts,
the fifth generation of the Roberts family to
run the firm, which has 120 staff.
