The newly built state-of-the-art premises of one
of the UK’s leading manufacturers of printing
and converting of flexible packaging, Roberts
Mart and Co Ltd, was recently given a royal opening
from His Royal Highness The Duke of York, in his
role as the UK’s Special Representative
for International Trade and Investment.
Staff, customers, family and friends of Chamber
member Roberts Mart watched as the Duke, formally
opened the 80,000 square foot factory. For more
than 120 years the Leeds-based company occupied
the same site in the city but in August the whole
operation moved to the Thornes Business Park and
now the £8.75 million purpose built factory
is officially open
Located on a seven-acre site, the factory is the
largest investment in the Aire Valley area to
date, with £3.25 million invested in plants
and another £5.5 million in the building
alone.
